Lidar laser is such a very broad term it is difficult to address it succinctly. Most lidar systems employ nanosecond lasers, but some utilize picosecond output. Sometimes a pulsed fiber laser at 1.5 um or at 1 um can be used. And at other times, a custom laser is needed because the customer has special volume, weight, pulsewidth, wavelength, energy requirements. Some require high rep rate… others need low rep rate… and the pulse energy and pulsewidth varies significantly as well from one requirement to another.
